The birth of postcards in the early days was primarily for those who could not afford to purchase stamps and envelopes. Over the years, however, postcards have become a novelty everyone enjoys sending and receiving from friends and family members. Pre-made cards used to be the only option, but now postcard printing has become customized and personalized.
Postcards have remained a staple of travel and of invitations to big events, hardly changing at all over the course of time. They still carry the same open format as they did during the time of their creation, with the writing on the back visible to anyone upon examination. Post offices and some gift shops in various exotic places often sell cards with pre-paid stamps in place to make sending one as simple as writing the note.
Cardboard paper has long been used to give postcards greater support and stability. After choosing a particular cardboard or construction paper, reduce its original size down to 3.5″x5″ (this will become the base structure of the postcard). Decorate the front side of the card any way that looks aesthetically appealing. The backside should be divided into two portions so the address can be written on the right side and a small letter on the left.
Photographs with dimensions of 3.5″x5″ can also be used to make postcards. Take a normal photograph and leave the front as is, but separated the back with a solid line. Use the left side to write down a small letter and the right side to put the address of the person you wish to send the letter to.
It is possible for one to pick up pre-made postcard backings, which are stickers that have the same printings as real postcards, at one’s local postal service center. These are simply attached to the back of any regular photo to convert that photo into a postcard. After the adhesion, the new postcard is ready to go with the addition of a stamp.
Mass production of postcards today is made easy through the advent of the Internet. Many of these online website offer services that allow their customers to design their very own postcard. Some sites are simplified down to be very user-friendly – all one has to do is submit a design and specify the amount of cards desired and they will be shipped to the customer for a nominal fee.
Certain sites have special options that one could select for his or her card to make them more personalized. The most prevalent of these features is the prepaid postage option, which can offer great savings to the customer. Some more stylish options include shiny text and glossed cards for added appeal.
Anyone can make their own postcards with today’s technology, and with simple creativity. Selecting the most appealing cardboard paper is a great way to start out when making one’s own presentation folder printing. postcard printing can be a wonderful pastime, as well as a frugal business venture for years to come.
