Are you excited to spend your holidays to Spain? If yes you have made a great choice! Spain is an exotic land of different cultures, smiling people, lovely beaches, and pleasant climate. Best of all, it is a land blessed with excellent food! In fact, one of the must-do things in Spain is to drop by their various eateries to sample the mouthwatering delights of the country.
Here’s a useful guide to the types of eateries you want to visit during your holidays to Spain. Just choose one that is the best for you. Better yet, try them all!
1. Horno Asador
Horno asador eateries are literally called “roasting oven.” Most of the dishes in the menu are cooked in a typically round oven that is constructed out of roofing tiles or adobe. Seasoned and herbed lambs, suckling pigs, and fowls are placed in earthenware cooking dishes and put into the oven. The smell of cooking that emanates from the oven of a horno asador is extremely enticing. Eating in a horno asador makes you think as if you went back in time to partake Spanish food cooked in the old way.
2. Terraza
A terazza, or terrace, is a streetside restaurant. Spanish people like to eat outdoors, therefore you would encounter a lot of terrazas along your tour. Terrazas have awnings, umbrellas, and trees to protect you from the rain or sun. Normally, you don’t need a reservation to sit on a table. A terazza is a convenient establishment where you can just grab a bite whenever your tummy grumbles.
3. Restaurante
This is a typical sit-down restaurant that is just like any other restaurant in other countries. Protocols, etiquette, and customs that need to be observed are quite the same. A restaurant tends to be small, exuding an intimate atmosphere. Just like many restaurants, you might need a reservation to dine in one.
4. Casa de Comidas
If you are a backpacker or a budget traveler, then eating in casa de comidas is for you. Considered as working-class restaurants, they provide you great meals at very reasonable rates.
5. Tasca
If you want a cold beer and some bar foods, then tascas, or bars, are ideal places to go to. Some of them even have entertainment such as live bands and televised sports shows.
