Dubrovnik, Croatia, a city in southern Croatia is one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast.
This 60.000- inhabitant town is also called “the pearl of Adriatic” or “Croatian Athens” and it was inscibed on UNESCO`s World Heritage List in 1979.

Georg Bernard Shaw said, after he had visited Dubrovnik, that he found the “paradise on earth”.
So it is really not surprising that this city,which was built in the 7th century on a rock and is completely surrounded by a thick wall, is one of the most popular destinations in Croatia.

Dubrovnik had its heyday in the Middle Ages but it still offers numerous sights and treasures in the old town you really shouldn`t miss.

There is for example the oldest pharmacy in Europe.It is located in the Franciscan monastry in the old city since 1317.
Moreover, there is also one of the oldest communal theater in Europe where still performaces are held.

*The city walls of Dubrovnik are 1,940 meters long and up to six meters wide and it was built around the city to protect it against rivals and enemies.The wall is (for a fee) completely walkable.

One of the most important CULTURAL DAYS in Dubrovnik is the feast of the Holy Patron of Dubrovnik St.Vlaho.
On every 15th February several events take place in old and new Dubrovnik in honor of the patron St.Vlaho.

And THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL also take place in Dubrovnik since 2003.
A selection of internationally cinematic-work in the categories fiction, documentary and short film are shown and some of them awarded.

How to reach Dubrovnik

Car
Croatia invested an enormous amount in the highway A1 from Zagreb to Split to make travelling by car easier.So you can reach your destination much faster.

Plain
You can arrive Dubrovnik from almost all regions of Europe, especially during the summer, because
a lot of companies strengthened approach the Cilipi-airport.

Ferry
You can come with the ferry from Rijeka or from one of its stopovers to Dubrovnik.The ferries run into the port of Gruz, which is three kilometers from the old town away.
