Nebraska tourism has a wide range of wonderful adventures for the visitor and one of those with great charm and history is the Dobby’s Frontier Town where the buildings from the past have been salvaged, moved, restored and opened for the public to see. You will see such places as the first log cabin built by the regions first black homesteader. There is also the first gas station that was in the area and a bootlegger’s house.
Not a building is there that doesn’t carry with it the history of the Old West. It is a great place to take your kids or to just go and learn on your own. You will be able to see the tools used to survive in the rough conditions in the frontier, the general store and how it was run to supply the homesteaders with the things they needed to live.
The village continues to grow as other buildings are added to the community. All this is done by the family of Kenneth Dobby at their own expense so if you are going to be visiting, why not leave a donation to help cover the cost? It is too great a historical site to let finances get in the way of offering this treasure to today and tomorrow’s youth.
