If you want to enjoy some peace and quite and want to be where you will be nearly alone then you will want to visit Knight Island State Park in Lake Champlain in Vermont. The isolation of this 1 mile long and 1/2 mile wide island is total compared to the other state parks you could visit.
Here you will need to walk wherever you want to go and stay on the paths, which are minimal in number. There are only 7 camping sites on the island and they do not have modern conveniences. No, there isn’t a modern potty, there isn’t a modern shower and the only heat you will get is from the fire you will need to start in the burning circle at your campsite.
You can’t drive out to the island, you have to take a boat and then you will need to beach it on the rocky shoreline or take the ferry which you will have to rent from one of the other park locations, such as Burton State Park. This isn’t a location for anyone that doesn’t want to try being primitive in the camping method but you certainly would have privacy and quite as well as the beauty only an unspoiled area of nature can supply.
