Foreign culture, the excitement of a new adventure, different cuisines, sightseeing and experiencing a new language are all some of the joys of globetrotting.
Traveling can be one of the most exciting times of your life or worst depending on how well informed you are for your trip. It is really important to do as much background reading as you can before departing for your destination. Some regions require visas for certain tourists and very specific inoculations as a condition of arrival.
You really need to inform yourself and not rely on a travel agent because the country requirements can change from time to time. I once knew a friend traveling to Vietnam and the travel agent got to passport controlfirst flight home. This was a real shame and one that could have not occurred with some foresight.
If you think that the world economic recession has made travel unaffordable available now that you can just about find a bargain airline ticket of destinations in this country and overseas. In fact the guide “My Airfare Secrets” will help you get the best deal.
Traveling with lightweight bags is one aspect of traveling that I am yet to conquer. I have however learnt to buy and travel with pashmina and cashmere to not so hot countries, as these yarns are so cosy and at the same time very easy to pack. Always ensure that you have layers then you will be ready for any temperature and remember to pack comfortable footwear. I don’t leave home without a useful small torch and of course take your toiletries because you may not get the types you like in the country you are traveling to.
Check out the quality of the local water before trying it, as you may need to buy distilled water and be careful with meals and at the same time participate in the fun of tasting new flavors and dishes wherever you are. Best to get a recommendation from a local or go to a place where you can see people relishing the food.
Make sure your valuable items are secure and pay for as much as you can before arrival. Take enough spending money to bring home some well thought out presents for your loved ones.
Last and certainly not least do have respect for the local culture including the behavior and dress code particularly if you are visiting any places of worship or religious sites.
OK, fasten your seat belt and Bon Voyage!
