Preparing for an exploration trip with your family is what you might do each year. When you are planning for a sleep in the great outdoors, you need to think of everything you might require while you are away. You must keep all your Backpacking gear and Outdoor camping supplies, the latter which must include insect repellents. However, when you get to the camp location, you can’t help but think what else you must do to keep these bothersome insects away. No matter which insect repellents you buy, those crawlers figure out a way to arrive at the campsite and ruin your entire your vacation. Before you get even more agitated, here’s a solution. What you can do is swing a plastic bag filled with water around your camp area, and it’s that easy to keep them away!
The main science behind the insects going away is refraction. Refraction is the bending of light when it moves from one medium to the other (air and water in this case). The refraction of light causes insects to have multiple visions which creates confusion for the insects and ultimately, they experience more than one dimension at once. For this phenomenon to take place, light is required. When you are at a camp location at night, a light bulb can aid this purpose. Other than that, the campfire might also be a great light source.
In order to create such an insect repellent, there are some measures to follow:
• Initially take a plastic bag and fill it with water. Make sure this bag is able to hold the pressure of the water when it is swinging. The water is the medium that will create the high optic flow for the insects. High optic flow areas are the danger zones for crawlers as this elevates their probability of collision. Therefore, they will avoid coming near.
• To bring more reflection in your plastic bag, add a few pennies. Make sure that they are sparkly. The more sparkly they are the more light they will bounce back and the more will the optic flow be. Therefore, insects will have a tough time. You may even wish to bring more than one coin. However, do not include so many that the plastic bag becomes incapable to keep them.
• Now close the bag and tie it with a bit of cord that is some feet in length. Make sure this cord is sufficiently durable to hold the water filled plastic bag when it is swinging.
• Swing the bag around the location where ticks are troubling you. The existence of light in this area is the solution. Along with that, if there is breeze around the location, you can rest assured that things will go your way. This is because breeze will make the bag swing in air, thereby increasing the diameter of the danger zone.
• Finally, what you can do is check the consequences. Take a close look at the population of the insects and figure out whether your repellent has affected them. If you have been successful, hanging more than one water bag is also going to assist.
