Wakeboarding is a popular water sport. Do not be in a hurry to get up. Patience in getting up on it and the right timing is very crucial. Patience is the key with the timing being right as one learns wakeboarding. Let’s start at the beginning. First of all, you need to make sure that your feet are secured to the wakeboard which you shall complete by taking the handles of the rope in your hand. But pulling at it will get you nowhere. One needs to hold onto it to stay connected to the boat.
Once you have done the above, you need to back into the water and wait for the boat to begin – this is the first initial yet important position as the boat will begin to move. You have your wakeboard on, you have the rope handle in your hands and you are lying back in the water while waiting for the boat to begin moving. This means you are lying in water and your toes are pointed in the upward direction so the wakeboard is at the edge of the water. Your feet are in the upward direction while the wakeboard is just at the edge of the water.
Just lie there and relax. As the boat begins moving, allow the boat to carry you over the waters. This means that till the boat begins movement, the wakeboard is the only solid contact you have. You must balance your body along with the movement and the tempo of the boat. This means you will be in a squatting position on the wakeboard. Now you need to balance your body with the tempo and the movement of the boat. Once you have gained confidence, you can straighten yourself in a manner in which you turn your hip in a manner which will bring one foot ahead of the other and tilt the wakeboard in a position which is parallel to the rear of the boat.
While rising turn your hip so that the wakeboard moves from its horizontal position to a straight line pointing directly at the boat. And maintain your hold over the rope handle. When you do so, all the weight should fall on the back foot and the wakeboard should be at an angle on the water. The rope handle you are holding should be resting at your hip.
Your hands holding the rope is resting it against your front hip while you surge ahead following the boat.
