Whenever a person thinks of camping, visions of tents and sleeping bags are the first things that come to mind. The reason for this is probably because tents are the most used camping products. If your looking for a place to avoid the rain, the cold, the heat, the wind, or even just a good place to get some sleep, your tent is the place to go. It is no wonder people want to try and find the best tents they can before venturing out on a camping trip.
I’ve slept out in the great outdoors many times and have been in both good and bad tents. I wrote this article to give you a good idea of what to look at before buying the perfect tent for your trip. Once you have finished with this page, you’ll be able to find the best tents to meet all of your particular camping needs.
First of all, you need to decide what kind of camping you will be doing. A car camping tent will be much different than a backpacking tent. Although you can use a backpacking tent for car camping, you should not ever expect to bring a car camping tent with you on a backpacking trip. These tents are much too heavy and would not allow a hiker to get very far.
After you have chosen a type of tent to purchase, you’ll want to choose a tent size. Keep in mind that a tents rating is typically not very accurate when it comes to how many people can fit in it. For example, a tent that states that it can sleep eight people will most likely only sleep four to six.
Another consideration will be the climate that the tent is meant to be used in. Four season tents, three season tents, and simple summer tents are all available. Make your choice based off of the climate you plan on spending your time in.
Another thing to consider is what style of tent to use. Dome tents, tunnel tents, and A styled tents are all available for purchase. The A style tent is named so because of its shape. This type of tent is the least comfortable. A tunnel tent is wider than an A tent and gives the camper a bit more room to maneuver around in.
Be sure to keep in mind that the best tents for you will differ based off of the kind of camping trips you plan on doing.
