Bournemouth is a thriving, vibrant and amazingly exciting city, despite the fact it is unfortunately nicknamed ‘God’s waiting Room’. The sad reason why it is called this is that large numbers of elderly folk choose to retire there. However, the city has an incredible youth culture, with a a high number of language and other students. Of course a place such as this could be a superb place to take a vacation however, there is lots more to the place. In fact Bournemouth is extremely popular with folk of all ages, one of the reasons why there are so many places offering Bournemouth bed and breakfast to choose from.
Bournemouth is located on the coast in the south of England, just over a hundred miles southwest of the capital city of England, London. The largest town situated on the south coast, Bournemouth, is well renowned for having 7 miles of spectacular golden beaches of sand and sparkling blue sea. It is the town’s fabulous situation that led to it being an amazingly popular holiday destination since the beginning of the 19C. It is pretty difficult to envisage that Bournemouth was, around eighteen hundred, nothing less than a remote and barren moorland consisting of mainly common land excluding Sir George Ivison Tapps’. In the year eighteen hundred and nine a public house appeared on the heath, the Tapps Arms, only a few of years after this, in the year 1812, the first couple, a retired army officer and wife, moved in.
Lewis Tregonwell and his wife acquired a little land, from Sir George Ivison Tapps, on which they built a a few villas with a view to letting them out in the summer months for holidays. Lewis Tregonwell and his wife also built themselves a summerhouse. and also began planting a multitude pine trees, creating a fantastic sheltered walkway to the beach, the Invalid’s Walk as it became known later.
Since those days the popularity of Bournemouth, as a UK tourist destination, has continued to increase, and, it has become known as a tourist haven for leisure, culture, recreation, entertainment and fun. Places which prove incredibly popular to visit include; the Russel-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum, the award winning Central Gardens, the graveyard of St. Peters Church and Bournemouth Pier.
If you are currently deciding upon taking a trip to Bournemouth it is immensely important that you book your room at the earliest moment because, unfortunately hotel and guest house accommodation in Bournemouth tend to be amazingly busy and are often fully booked months in advance. If your group is large you might find that Bournemouth serviced apartments prove to be cheaper alternative to bed & breakfast accommodation in Bournemouth.
